Stafford Police Department Welcomes Latest K-9 Officer To Force

Patrolman Brandon Haines and his partner Jase are ready to to hit the road.

Stafford Township has a new police officer - K-9 Jase.

Jase and Patrolman Brandon Haines just graduated from the Atlantic County Police Training Center’s 41st K-9 patrol dog training class on Jan. 8, Capt. Thomas J. Dellane said.

The rigorous and intense 12-week training course focuses on tracking, handler protection, evidence recovery, building searches, obedience and courtroom testimony, according to the police department’s website.

Haines exceled amongst his fellow classmates and was awarded the John “Sonny” Burke K-9 award.

Atlantic City K-9 Officer Sonny Burke was killed in the line of duty on October 1, 1970.

“ The award is given to a member of the graduating class that best exemplifies Sonny Burke’s motivation and enthusiasm in the field of K-9 training,” Dellane said. “Patrolman Haines and K-9 Jase now stand ready to provide quality K-9 service to the Stafford Police Department and communities we serve.”
