Stafford Presented With Up-And-Coming Healthy Town Award
At a recent council meeting, the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute presented Stafford with the award for improving the town's health.

STAFFORD, NJ — Stafford Township was officially presented with the Up-And-Coming Healthy Town Award at a recent council meeting for the strides the township has made in increasing the health of its residents.
"Stafford Township worked very hard to strengthen their Mayors Wellness Campaign committee programs," Virginia Tesser, of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, said at the meeting.

Tesser said that Stafford focused heavily on sustainability and community initiatives with partners, such as schools, the hospital and emergency services.
Tesser highlighted the SHIP program, "Stafford Helps Its People," which connects residents with volunteers.

"We were really impressed with your rain barrel initiative," Tesser added, as well as the farmers market that offers residents healthy food choices.
She thanked Mayor Gregory Myhre and the Mayors Wellness Campaign committee for their dedication.
"We plan to do so much more," Myhre said. "It's not just about receiving a plaque, it's about really getting the community as healthy as we can."
