Stafford Storm Sewage Damage Cost Six-Figure Sum; Sewer Pipe Work Completed
Pipes were ruptured when a crew drilling a footing for new Atlantic Electric towers hit the pipes

The township sustained more than $150,000 worth of electrical and radio damage to sewage control systems and pumping facilities in Ocean Acres because of last month’s “100 year storm,” according to Township Administrator James Moran.
No other township property was damaged in the storm that flooded the Neptune and Forecastle area of Ocean Acres, as well as Route 72.
The township police and public works departments were able to keep their overtime costs to a minimum by putting senior officers and personnel out in the storm area, he added.

The township also needed to pay the overtime for township employees to maintain a temporary pumping station using a tank truck while the work was being done, said the administrator.
The total cost of the project was approximately $205,000 that was shared between the township, the owners of Bonnet Island Estate to repair their water service and Comcast Cable, whose lines were also drilled through.
The pipes were ruptured when a crew drilling a footing for new Atlantic Electric towers hit the pipes. Moran said it was an accident based on false readings when the pipe locations were marked.
