Stafford Township Gets Ready for Founders Day

Mayor invites everyone out this Saturday.

Preparations are under way for Stafford Township's annual Founder's Day festivities, scheduled for this saturday.

Mayor John Spodofora said at the township council meeting last night that he is expecting a "great day," full of activities.

The day starts off with an 8 a.m. brunch at the Stafford Fire House for area residents age 70 years or older, followed by a hometown parade that kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and runs along Stafford Avenue to Route 9.

Festivities are set to begin at the Manahawkin Lake Park immediately following the parade. Activities to include Opening Ceremonies, Craft and Food Vendors, Local Businesses, Entertainment by the Mott’s Creek Pickers, Little Miss Stafford and Little Town Crier contests, pony rides and games for children.

Evening Festivities will begin at the Doc Cramer Sports Complex starting at 4 p.m. and include food vendors, a pie eating contest, a Stafford Idol Contest, a Miss Stafford Pageant, Inflatable Rides, Laser Tag and games for all ages. The day ends with a fireworks display at dusk.

Also during the council meeting, it was announced that Stafford Township sent a truck filled with cleaning items out to Oklahoma, following the tornado there. The items had been left over from the township's "bucket brigade" after Sandy.
