Procedure to select a new chief still being discussed.
Stafford Township Police Chief Joseph Giberson will step down on May 31, after six years as chief and 27 years in law enforcement, according to The Sandpaper.
“I have been told many times, ‘When the time is right, you will know it,’” he said.
Three command officers are eligible to apply for the position. They included Capt. Thomas Dellane, who has a law degree, Lt. James Vaughn and Lt. Herman Pharo. Vaughn and Pharo have master's degrees.

Township Administrator James Moran, Giberson and Giberson are deciding on the process for the selection for the new chief.
“It will be a tough selection, as all three are excellent officers and have proven their ability over the years, moving the department forward and, most important, designing and implementing many community-police relationship activities that we are most proud of,” Giberson said.
