Stafford Woman Pushes Through Treatment After Amputation, Injury
A GoFundMe has been set up to support Maryann Murray Levine and her husband after both suffered significant injuries in a car accident.

Maryann Murray Levine has given plenty to the Stafford community. Now she and her husband need the community's help. Maryann and Gregory Levine both suffered significant injuries in a Jan. 30 car accident. Maryann needed both legs amputated and sustained a collapsed lung, broken ribs and spinal fractures, according to a GoFundMe for the family.
State police said a Honda Accord hit the guardrail in Toms River in the morning of Jan. 30, giving the passenger serious injuries and the driver moderate injuries. Gregory left the hospital Jan. 31 with back, shoulder and hip injuries, said Laurie Trovato, who started the GoFundme. Trovato is Maryann's close friend and Gregory's distant cousin.
The family is working out how much Maryann's state medical insurance will cover, and her car insurance has a financial limit, Trovato said. Donors have raised $76,786 in the GoFundMe as of Monday morning. The funds will cover medical care, prosthetic legs and handicap-accessible housing and transportation.

"Maryann has been an active member of the Stafford Township Community," Trovato wrote. "From her fondest memories of her volunteering within the school district to fighting for her children's and other students educational rights, while going back to college to earn her own degree."
Maryann underwent her fourth surgery Monday, Trovato said. Maryann was extubated and is breathing on her own. She is now alert and aware of her condition, Trovato wrote Sunday on the GoFundMe.

The Levine's have two children named Sarah and Michael. As the parents recover from injuries, they ask that no one visit at this time, Trovato said.
"Prior to the accident, Maryann and Greg were suffering devastating financial hardships," Trovato wrote on the GoFundMe. "They were struggling to not lose their families home and keep food on the table."
