Standoff Between Little Egg Harbor Cops And Mentally Disturbed Man Ends Peacefully

Little Egg Harbor - No one was injured in a late night standoff between Little Egg Harbor police and a mentally disturbed man who made "verbal threats to himself" Tuesday night, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Ocean County SWAT team members also assisted in the negotiations with the unarmed man, said spokesman Al Della Fave.

The confrontation took place in the area of Leitz Boulevard late Tuesday night. Some residents evacuated the area for several hours until the incident was over, he said.

The man was brought in for a psychiatric evaluation. No criminal charges have been filed yet, Della Fave said.
