“Please be careful trying to get onto the beach, as there are some serious drops at the end of entrance ramps due to erosion,” the police department’s Facebook page states.

Many beach entrances are now steep drop-offs and the beach buggy ramps are closed, police said.

The borough’s roads are still in poor condition. Most of the ice chunks that floated down the streets over the weekend have been removed, but many bayside intersections and areas of Barnegat Avenue are still covered with ice, the post states.

“Please avoid using Barnegat Avenue to allow our road crews to work,” police said. “If you must drive today, use extreme caution.”

Emergency management workers rescued a family from their home on Sixth Street on Saturday night, when the second tide came rushing in, according to the police department Facebook page.
