Surf City Police Warn Of Bogus Craigslist Rental Ad
No one took the bait, thanks to a local real estate broker, cops said.

If it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.
Surf City police recently responded to SeaBreeze Realty after they were contacted by the broker regarding a fraudulent rental home listing on Craigslist, according to the police department's Facebook page.
Surf City police officers spoke to the broker on April 19.

The broker said a third party advised her of an ad posted on Craigslist for a property in Brant Beach in Long Beach Township that Seabreeze is responsible for renting.
The Craigslist ad had a picture of the property, along with a number to call for further information. The broker contacted the person who posted the ad and asked questions about the ad, police said.

The individual, who was described as having a thick accent, eventually hung up and the ad was subsequently removed.
"It is believed the individual was attempting to secure money from potential renters by having them wire funds to an unknown bank account, the post said. "At this time, no victims and/or loss of money have been reported in relation to this post. We urge the public to use extreme caution when dealing in online transactions on social media and sites like Craigslist, especially listings for real estate rentals. Never wire money or give money up-front to individuals on these types of sites without confirming the legitimacy of the post."
