Tour Cloverdale Farm Park on June 4th

Nature Tour

TOUR OF CLOVERDALE FARM PARK JUNE 4TH AT 630 PM PRESENTED BY THE BARNEGAT GARDEN CLUB

The Barnegat Garden Club will present a guided tour at Cloverdale Farm County Park, June 4 at 6:30 PM. Cloverdale Farm Park is the newest addition to the Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation. The Ocean County Natural Lands Trust Fund Program acquired Cloverdale Farm in 2004 from Katherine Collins, who operated the cranberry bogs and tree farm on the property for over 50 years with her husband William. The property has been continuously run as a cranberry farm since the late 1800s

Patricia Trasferini, the naturalist at the park, will to do a short tour of the building and then take the group on a walk around the property. Members of the Barnegat Garden Club will be on hand to assist. This is a free event.

A most attractive aspect of the park is its natural beauty. Besides cranberries, the bogs are home to wildflowers, birds, and a host of other flora and fauna. This provides an opportunity for photographers and nature enthusiasts in any season. A 1.4 mile self-guided nature trail meanders through the farm into undisturbed woodlands that offer an escape from everyday life.

The Nature Center, opened in May of 2015, contains exhibits that highlight the natural beauty and historical significance of the park.

If you are planning to join the tour, wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Be sure to wear bug spray, and bring water along for the hike. You are welcome to bring a camera.
