Volunteers Sought For 2 LBI Beach Sweeps
Clean Ocean Action's Beach Sweeps attracted over 9,000 volunteers throughout New Jersey last year.

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ — Clean Ocean Action will hold two Beach Sweeps on Long Beach Island from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. They will take place at the following locations:
- Beach Haven Lifeguard Headquarters (59 Centre St., Beach Haven)
- Wally's Restaurant (712 Long Beach Blvd., Surf City)
The Beach Sweeps program began in 1985 to rid beaches of unsightly and harmful debris. The program has grown from 75 people in 1985 to over 9,000 volunteers last year. The program takes place at over 70 New Jersey locations.
The event is rain or shine. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, as well as both registered parties and walk-ons. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to pre-register by completing the online form, or by calling COA's Sandy Hook office at 732-872-0111.

Clean Ocean Action left these guidelines:
- Bring gloves and a trash bucket (this helps to reduce the number of plastic bags used).
- Wear sunscreen and hard-soled shoes.
- Dress for the weather. Stay off dunes and respect wildlife.
