125 Acre Wildfire Burns In Little Egg Harbor

Part of Route 539 is closed Tuesday afternoon as the New Jersey Forest Fire Service battles a wildfire in Little Egg Harbor.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — Part of Route 539 is closed Tuesday afternoon as the New Jersey Forest Fire Service battles a nearby wildfire.

The fire at Stafford Forge Wildlife Management Area had reached 125 acres in size and was entirely uncontained as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, Forest Fire Service officials said.

Sixteen structures are threatened by the fire, officials said.

Route 539 is closed between Route 72 and Forge Road until further notice, Little Egg Harbor police said shortly before 1 p.m. Drivers are to find an alternate route.

The Forest Fire Service shared that they were responding to a wildfire in the Warren Grove area.
