198-Unit Dewy Meadow Project Public Presentation Set For March 5

The units would be built at the abandoned A&P site in the Dewy Meadow Shopping Center in Basking Ridge.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The 198-unit Dewy Meadow housing project public presentation will be carried and heard at the March 5 Bernards Township Planning Board meeting.

The first public hearing was held on Feb. 5 where the presentation was not completed and will continue at the next meeting, Cyndi Kiefer planning/zoning board secretary confirmed.

The project entails building 198 units in two buildings at 403 King George Road in the township. There will be one-, two- and three-bedroom units available. Rents have not been established, according to Joe Korn of Bernard Plaza Associates.

The units would be built at the abandoned A&P site in the Dewy Meadow Shopping Center. Korn is hoping to begin construction this summer/fall if approved by the planning board.

The Dewy Meadow housing project follows the recently approved Crown Court project, which calls for 24 units of which 20 are market value and four affordable housing units. (See Related: New 24-Unit Apartment Complex To Be Built In Basking Ridge)

Both housing projects are a result of a settlement in March 2018 following an affordable housing litigation filed against the township by Affordable Housing intervenors, Bernards Plaza Associates, LLC and Crown Court Plaza, LLC.

The full settlement agreement can be viewed by clicking here.

With the settlement Township Attorney John Belardo said the township will receive credit for 106 affordable housing units.

Residents will have a chance to speak during the public presentation during the March 5 Planning Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Bernards Township Municipal Building, Warren Craft Meeting Room, 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge.
