2 NJ High Schools Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Multiple police agencies and K-9 units responded to search both schools on Friday morning.

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ — Two North Jersey high schools were evacuated Friday morning following a bomb threat, authorities said.

At about 9 a.m. on Sept. 6 students and staff were evacuated from North Hunterdon High School and Voorhees High School after officials received a bomb threat, Acting Hunterdon County Prosecutor Michael J. Williams said.

Multiple police agencies and K-9 units responded to search both schools. Students and staff have since returned to classrooms to continue the school day.

"At this time we are confident that there is no threat to the schools or to the community," Williams said.

The HCPO is continuing to investigate the alleged bomb threat to find out who made the created the "false public alarm."

"The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office does not take a bomb threat or any other kind of threat at a school lightly. This incident will be aggressively investigated and those found to be responsible will be prosecuted," Williams said.

For causing a false public alarm the person or people responsible may be jailed, be sentenced to community service, or get probation. They also could have to pay for the cost of the police and emergency response to the threats.
