$4M In Road Improvements, New Vehicles To Be Spent In Basking Ridge

The Bernards Township Committee unanimously approved an ordinance for various capital improvements.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Committee unanimously approved an ordinance for roughly $4 million for several capital improvement projects during its Tuesday night meeting.

The ordinance will appropriate $4,255,385.81 from the township's Capital Improvement Fund. It would fund roadway and drainage improvements, purchase new equipment for emergency responders, and more.

  • $1,889,985.81 - Engineering Improvement Projects including but not limited to Roadway Management and Reconstruction, Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements, Township Aerials, and Pedestrian Bridges & Paths
  • $510,000 - Facility Improvements including but not limited to: Repairs and Improvements to the following structures: Engineering Services Building, Health Dept., Police HQ, Various Parks & Recreation Facilities, and Municipal Building
  • $355,000 - DPW Projects and E
  • quipment including but not limited to: Various Roadway Repairs, Bituminous Concrete Facility Repair; Guiderail Repair and Replacement; Repair and Retrofit Drainage; Small Equipment
  • $65,400 - Various Systems Improvements including Hardware and Software Upgrades, and Police Mobile Data Terminals
  • $57,750 - Purchase of Various Emergency Equipment and Emergency Vehicles for the Basking Ridge First Aid Squad
  • $432,750 - Purchase of Various Emergency Equipment and Emergency Vehicles for the Basking Ridge Fire Company
  • $257,000 - Purchase of Various Emergency Equipment and Radio and Breathing Apparatus for the Liberty Corner Fire Company
  • $95,000 - Purchase of Various Grounds Maintenance Equipment, including but not limited to Tractors, and Small Equipment
  • $200,000 - Parks and Recreation Facility Improvements including but not limited to Playgrounds, Tennis Courts, Parks, and Field infrastructure, equipment and lighting
  • $97,500 - Purchase of Police Equipment including, but not limited to, Patrol Car Equipment; Radar Units and Body Worn Cameras
  • $135,000 - Pleasant Valley Pool Facility Improvements including, but not limited to Painting, Replacement of Soft Surfacing, and Equipment
  • $160,000 - Purchase of Motor Vehicle Fleet Replacements including, but not limited to DPW Equipment Vehicles, Utility, Tandem, and Mason Body Trucks, and Passenger Vehicles.

If the township gets any grant money for any of the projects listed above it will be applied to the cost of the improvements and reduce the amount needed from the capital improvement fund.
