The Albrook School Celebrates 40 Years!
"The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind" - Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori believed that, “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind” and this resonated with our founders over 40 years ago when they began their search for the perfect location to start The Albrook Montessori School. In 1979 Ms. Anita Albers and Mrs. Carol Brooks opened the school’s doors in a rented space in a church basement. The school’s founders had a clear vision of providing a rich, caring environment with hands-on multi-sensory learning, while embracing peace education and global awareness.
As the enrollment grew, Albrook purchased a house that became Albrook’s permanent address. As the years moved on, the school expanded to what it is today, a glorious 6 1/2 acre campus with a toddler, preschool and elementary wing, an all-purpose hall, a library, an art room, a music room, a virtual library and two heated pools enjoyed by summer camp participants. Through all this growth, the commitment to the Montessori philosophy, with an emphasis on peace education stands strong.
In 2003, The Albrook School proudly received dual accreditation from the American Montessori Society and the Middle States Association. In 2005 we had our first International Day, in celebration of our interconnectedness to honor our 25th anniversary. In 2014 we had the honor of becoming an International Peace Site due to our dedication to continuing the journey of peace education, valuing diversity and tolerance.
