Basking Ridge Firestorm Rec Softball Team Ends Much Improved Season

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge Youth Sports Inc.(RYSI) Seniors Softball Team Grades 6-8 ended their season a couple of wins shy of taking home the Championship Trophy. They finished the season with a 5-5-1 Record and fielded their entire roster for the final fight of the season.

The Firestorm traded wins and losses throughout the 2023 campaign with veteran leadership taking the reins and several brand-new to softball players earning their first hits, scoring their first runs, stealing their first bases and recording putouts.

Several of the rookies had never stepped foot on a field before and broke in brand new equipment for the season - but all ended the season with broken-in gloves and dirty uniforms. And they earned it!

Playing late into the night on several occasions, in rain, in cold, in mosquitos - and even in the dark after the lights went out an hour early [restored 15 minutes later following a Karaoke Sing Off under the light of many cell phones] - the Firestorm became a united team and earned their stripes in the trenches together.

The team is only losing two 8th graders - so who knows what 2024 will bring if we can bring our girls back next season with another year of experience under their capable belts?
