Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 and Emergency Medical Services received a donation of special pet oxygen masks from Canine Company.

Pet-loving families in Basking Ridge can breathe a little easier: first responders here have a new life-saving tool for pets. Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 and Emergency Medical Services has received a donation of specially designed oxygen masks for pets through Canine Company’s Canine Saves campaign.

Captain Jody Jacobus contacted the company last month after learning about the program to get the special masks into the hands of first responders in communities where the company’s clients live.

“We know how important pets are to their families,” said Jacobus, “and are so happy to add this rescue tool that will help us save the lives of our citizens’ pets.”

So far this year, Canine Company has donated more than 40 sets of masks to 18 fire departments and first aid squads. “At Canine Company, we offer products and services to help pet parents keep their pets healthy, safe and happy at home and we support community programs that do the same,” said Renee Coughlin, of Canine Company. “We hope to donate to first responders in other communities where our clients live.”

Canine Company provides at-home pet care products and services including the Invisible Fence® brand pet containment systems and Manners obedience training to pet parents across New Jersey, New York and the New England states.

The pet oxygen masks are designed in a cone shape to fit securely over the snout of most animals. Each set comes in three sizes to fit many pets – from small mammals like rabbits up through giant-breed dogs. The masks connect to the standard oxygen tanks rescue teams carry.
