Basking Ridge To Honor Marine Killed In Black Hawk Helicopter Crash
The Township will be naming a newly paved road between the Municipal Building and Ridge High School in honor of Captain Ford Shaw.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township will honor the memory of Ridge High School graduate and Marine Ford Shaw by naming a road in his name.
On April 12 at 3 p.m., a Naming Ceremony will be held at the recently paved road between the municipal complex and Ridge High School at 1 Collyer Lane, Bernards Township. The road will be named "Captain Ford Shaw Way."
Capt. Stanford Henry Shaw III, 31, was a member of the Ridge High School class of 2002 and a 2006 United States Naval Academy graduate.

He was a decorated commissioned Marine officer who served two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan.
Shaw's personal awards include Bronze Star(awarded posthumously), Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (with two stars).

He was one of 11 people killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash during a training mission in Florida on March 10, 2015.
