Basking Ridge Local Among 7 Arrested For DUI In Springfield

Springfield Police reported making 7 arrests for driving under the influence.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A Basking Ridge local was among seven people to be arrested for driving under the influence in the township, according to the police blotter.

On June 16: A 29-year-old Basking Ridge woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

On June 16: A 48-year-old Linden man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a patrol officer observed him asleep in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle on Linden Avenue.

On June 18: A 45-year-old Flushing, New York man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test after he was observed driving erratically by a patrol officer on Morris Avenue.

On June 18: A 24-year-old Paterson woman and a 26-year-old Dumont woman were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

On June 19: Officers responded to a Morris Avenue business on a report of shoplifting. A 64-year-old Springfield resident was arrested and charged with theft.

On June 22: A detective bureau investigation of reports received in December 2017 resulted in a 45-year-old Roselle man charged with harassment.

On June 23: A 35-year-old Maplewood woman was arrested and charged with failure to turn over narcotics to police, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and an outstanding warrant out of Irvington as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue.

On June 26: A 26-year-old Summit man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a patrol officer observed the man asleep at the wheel of his vehicle at a traffic signal on Morris Avenue.

On June 26: As a result of an investigation by the detective bureau into an attempted robbery on June 14 at a Morris Avenue Bank parking lot, a 22-year-old Irvington man was arrested and charged with robbery, as well as two outstanding warrants out of Union and Newark.

On June 27: A 57-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the parking lot of a Morris Avenue business.

On June 28: A 54-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue.

On June 28: A Route 22 business reported the use of a fraudulent credit card. An investigation by the detective bureau led to a 26-year-old Newark man being charged with theft by deception, forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card.

On June 28: A 26-year-old Randolph man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a motor vehicle accident investigation on Walnut Court.

Patrol Officers made five additional warrant arrests out of Springfield Municipal Court, Union, North Plainfield, and Greenwich.
