Basking Ridge Local Confirmed As New Somerset County Prosecutor
Michael H. Robertson of Basking Ridge was confirmed as the new Somerset County Prosecutor by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Michael H. Robertson of Basking Ridge was confirmed as the new Somerset County Prosecutor by the Senate Judiciary Committee and unanimously approved by the state Senate on Monday in Trenton.
Robertson had been serving as Acting Prosecutor since March 7 after Geoffrey Soriano was ousted from his position by the state Attorney General’s Office on Feb. 18 — only one day after the county was criticized for how it handled the high-profile Sept. 28, 2014 deaths of John and Joyce Sheridan, according to nj.com.
Soriano had been appointed as Somerset County Prosecutor in 2010.
