Basking Ridge Mom Publishes Second Children's Book With Life Lesson
"Mismatched Socks" reassures parents that as long as their kids have socks and their feet are warm they are "good to go."

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Basking Ridge mom of two, Amy Kerns, knows all too well how chaotic life can get. One day while staring at a bin of mismatched socks she was inspired to pen her second children's book "Mismatched Socks."
"It is based on my family and the tons of mismatched socks we have," said Kerns.
Kerns has two children close in age so she was constantly finding socks but in different patterns and sizes. Worried that she was sending her son to daycare with mismatched socks it suddenly donned on her.

"At the end of the day as long as they have socks on their feet and their feet are warm, they are good to go," said Kerns.
This lesson transcends to adults as well, said Kerns.

"It reverberates in other areas of life. It is a great observation and reflection," said Kerns who is a self proclaimed perfectionist.
Kerns dedicated the book 'To parents whose lives revolve around mismatched socks.'
Mismatched socks is a simple rhyming book aimed at children ages 0 to 3 years old and includes sock activities in the back.
It is a nontraditional-sized book at 5x5 which is easier for younger children to hold in their hands, said Kerns.
Her two-and-a-half-year-old son's favorite page is the clean and dirty sock page.
This is Kern's second book. The passionate writer penned "Harlow Learns He's Loved" last year. Read More: Basking Ridge Mom Spreads Love In New Children's Book. She plans to continue this series as well moving forward.
"Each book is based on my family and really each book has a special place in my heart," said Kerns.
Mismatched Socks is available for preorders now and will be released on March 20. Kerns is hoping to do some book signings and readings locally as well.
