Basking Ridge Schools Awarded $244K In Coronavirus Aid

The money is to help school districts address the areas most impacted by the disruption and closure of schools caused by the coronavirus.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township School District will receive roughly $244,000 as part of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Somerset Vocational Technical School will also receive just over $45,000.

Specifically the money was awarded through a section of the CARES Act under the Elementary Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund.

Bernards Township schools have been closed on March 12 when remote learning was implemented. Gov. Currently Basking Ridge is planning a virtual graduation. It is unclear if those plans may change as Murphy announcemed on Wednesday to allow New Jersey high schools will be allowed to hold outdoor graduations — so long as participants remain in their cars.
