Basking Ridge: Somerset County Celebrates Diversity Awareness Month In October
The second annual 2020 Somerset County Diversity Festival will occur virtually beginning Oct. 1.

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Due to the pandemic, the second annual 2020 Somerset County Diversity Festival will occur virtually beginning Oct. 1. In honor of Global Diversity Awareness Month, the county will feature interactive activities for residents via a multi-media platform that will be available on Somerset County’s Diversity webpage throughout October.

This year’s theme “Somerset County – Everyone Belongs Here,” is the county’s prevailing message that will be woven throughout the county’s 2020 Diversity Festival. Among the Diversity Festival initiatives that will be offered, is an online self-guided tour where the public can explore the history of diverse cultures within specific locations in Somerset County.
Other activities will include a poster contest for students – the details will be announced within the next few weeks. An online Diversity Portal will be available to the public so they can submit and share their diversity stories, resources, contacts, events, and programs that honor and celebrate Somerset County’s diverse population.

Submissions that are selected will be featured in an interactive online presentation where users can learn about others’ experiences and the resources available for various ethnicities, cultures, genders, sexual orientations, ages, people with developmental and physical abilities, and people of all income levels and education.
“Somerset County – Everyone Belongs Here.” Somerset County welcomes and is home to a diverse population of promising individuals from around the world. Residents from all backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities are one of the county’s greatest assets that has helped to form unique and vibrant communities within the county.
