Basking Ridge: Somerset County Department Of Health To Sponsor Drive-Thru Flu Clinic
First responders and residents who are at least 18 years of age can receive their flu shots on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Somerset County Department of Health is making it easier to receive a flu vaccination by sponsoring a free drive-thru clinic. Residents are being urged to get their flu vaccinations as soon as possible.

First responders and residents who are at least 18 years of age can receive their flu shots on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the South County Public Works Garage, located at 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, online registration is required and consent forms must be completed electronically. The deadline to register is Thursday, Sept. 24. To receive the flu shot, individuals must have their I.D. and are required to wear face masks. Click here to obtain a registration form and consent form.

Although it is not certain what will occur in the fall and winter, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) predicts that the seasonal flu virus and COVID-19 may spread during that time. It has been shown that many people who are at higher risk of being infected by the flu also may be more susceptible to COVID-19. According to the CDC, getting a flu shot will not protect one from COVID-19, yet there are many benefits of getting a flu vaccination.
Getting a flu vaccination is important because it can reduce one’s risk of becoming infected with the flu, decrease the risk of hospitalization and death, and reduce the risk of severe illness in people who are at higher risk of having complications from the flu.
Being vaccinated is the best way to prevent seasonal flu. It is also important to practice good health habits such as staying home when sick, handwashing with soap and water and covering your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing.
