Basking Ridge Student Earns Outstanding Award From Boston University
Alina Razak of Basking Ridge received the Bernard Kutner Award from Boston University (BU) College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Alina Razak of Basking Ridge received the Bernard Kutner Award from Boston University (BU) College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College.
This award is given to the student who exemplifies the ideals of Sargent College through excellence of scholarship, high moral character and outstanding service to the school and community, as well as loyalty, service to one’s fellow students and exemplary potential as a health care professional.
Razak, also a Kilachand Honors College student, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in speech, language and hearing sciences on Sunday, May 21.

During her time at BU, Razak served as a BU Trustee Scholar, undergraduate assistant for human physiology and Dean’s Host at Sargent College.
A member of the Sargent College Honor Society, she co-founded the student group Global Development Community which strives to empower undergraduate students to make a difference locally and globally.

Razak also worked as a research assistant in the Communication Neuroscience Research Laboratory. Her thesis examined the effects of background noise on our ability to identify different talkers.
In recommending Razak for this award, Professors Lorraine Delhorne, Ann Dix and Gerald Kidd said, “Despite her tremendous workload and responsibilities she is invariably calm, pleasant, thoughtful and conscientious. She stands out not only for her accomplishments and capabilities, but also quite simply as the most likeable and gracious person imaginable.”
After graduation, Razak will pursue her MD at Boston University School of Medicine.
