Bell Labs: The Beginnings of Today's Digital Age at The Bernards Township Library

Author A. Michael Noll will discuss his book about Bell Labs and the unique factors that made it so influential on Thursday, April 21.

Join us for Bell Labs: The Beginnings of Today's Digital Age at The Bernards Township Library on Thursday, April 21 from 7:00 - 8:00pm. Bell Labs was formed in 1925 and was responsible for many of the innovations that created today’s digital era and information age. Author A. Michael Noll will discuss his book about Bell Labs and the unique factors that made it so influential. Slides will document the history of Bell Labs, including its facilities in New Jersey. After Edison’s laboratory, Bell Labs could be considered New Jersey’s second invention factory and the forerunner of Silicon Valley. Presenter: A. Michael Noll (and Michael Geselowitz) are the editors of Bell Labs Memoirs: Voice of Innovation, IEEE History Center, 2011. Noll was employed at Bell Labs as a research engineer during the 1960s and currently is Professor Emeritus of Communications at the USC Annenberg School.
