Bernards Police Step Up Patrols At Synagogues Ahead Of 'Day Of Hate'

Social media postings have drawn law enforcement attention nationally, Bernards Township Police said, but no real threat has been found.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township Police say they have increased patrol presence at local Jewish synagogues following social media posts referencing a "National Day of Hate."

"We are aware of the information and learned from the NJ State Police that there is no nexus to NJ. Even though there is no nexus, we increased our presence at our synagogues which started last night and will continue for the weekend," said Bernards Township Police Chief Jon Burger.

Although there have been no credible threats in Bernards Township and New Jersey associated with social media posts circulating that reference a supposed "National Day of Hate" on Saturday, Feb. 25 - many local police departments are taking precautions.

Along with Bernards Township, police departments in Warren, Bridgewater and Hillsborough have also increased enforcement.
