Bernards Township Bids Farewell to Police Lt. Reese

Benards Township Committee passes a resolution commending Police Lt. Edward Reese for his 25 years of service

Bernards Township, NJ -- Township officials bid farewell to police Lt. Edward Reese on his retirement from the police department after 25 years of service.

“I would like to congratulate Ted Reese,” Deputy Mayor Carolyn Graziano said. “My family got to know him very well during Hurricane Sandy when we basically lived in his office.”

The committee members passed a resolution of commendation for Reese’s retirement at the March 15 meeting.

“The Township Committee of the Township of Bernards desires to convey to you an expression of its appreciation and grateful acknowledgment for the valued services rendered by you as an employee of the Township of Bernards for the past 25 years,” the resolution stated.

Throughout his career, Reese served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer/Supervisor, Senior Firearms Instructor, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Community Policing Lieutenant, Detective Lieutenant and Traffic Services Lieutenant for Bernards Township’s residents, visitors, and fellow township employees.

He also served as a Somerset County Police Academy Instructor, Somerset County Firearms Instructor, Interagency Anti-Crime Task Force Project Leader, Somerset County Organized Crime & Narcotics Task Force Investigator for two tours and as a member of the Somerset County SCERT/SWAT Team in the capacities of team member, point man, Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader and Deputy Commander representing himself and this Police Department on a county and regional level.

“The Township Committee of the Township of Bernards sincerely appreciates the worthwhile contributions you have made towards the material development, communal welfare, safety and quality of life in Bernards Township,” the resolution stated.

“He is a great guy when you needed help with traffic control,” said Committeeman John Malay. “He always has been very cooperative when getting things done. He will be missed but I wish him the best of luck going forward.”

A special walkout will be held at the police department on Reese’s last day on March 31.
