Bernards Township Library Hosts Random Fandom Events

Bernards Township Library Trustee shares a letter about recent events.

Dear Editor,

The other night teens gathered at Bernards Township Library for a Harry Potter-related program. It was fantastic fun!

In honor of the release of the new movie Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald, Teen Services Librarian Rachel Talbert hosted a program about the first movie. Participants re-watched the original Fantastic Beasts movie, tested their movie knowledge with trivia, and crafted one of the beasts, a Bowtrickle. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and delight of the teens.

This is just the latest offering from the Library in all things “fandom,” the subcultures of fans sharing a common interest in someone or something. A Harry Potter-themed program in August and this most recent one both featured author J. K. Rowling. A variety of Random Fandom events are planned for 2019.

The Library’s Anime Club meets monthly and celebrates animated media and graphic novels. A new collection of downloadable comics from DC, Marvel and IDW will be available in January.

I highly recommend these events for students in grade 7 to 12 (ages 13 – 18).

Contact Rachel at RTalbert@BernardsLibrary.org or 908-204-3031 ext. 5 or stop in at the library to find out about the next event.
