Bernardsville Man, RVCC Professor Dies Hiking On Jockey Hollow Trail: Police

Mark Cozin, 73, of Bernardsville, was found by another hiker on a Jockey Hollow trail in Morris County on Tuesday, said authorities.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A former Raritan Valley Community College professor and Bernardsville resident was found Tuesday along a Jockey Hollow trail. He likely died from a medical incident while hiking, authorities said.

At around noon on Tuesday, another hiker walking the green trail at Jockey Hollow found the unresponsive man, later identified as Mark Cozin, 73, of Bernardsville, and called 911, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office

Authorities went to the trail and a medical examiner preliminarily determined the man died from a medical incident while hiking along the trail, said authorities.

Law enforcement continues to investigate but the death is not considered suspicious, according to authorities.

Cozin had previously worked as a Professor of Sociology at RVCC from September 1979 through June 2019, according to college officials.
