Bicyclist Thrown Onto Hood, Into Windshield On Basking Ridge Road

Millington bicyclist was hit by a car on N. Finley Avenue in Basking Ridge on Saturday night, Bernards Township Police report.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A bicyclist has been hospitalized after he was hit by a car in Basking Ridge Saturday night, police report.

Robert Riley, 42, of Far Hills was driving a Mercedes Benz G55 on Saturday at 5:53 p.m. on N. Finley Avenue when he made a left onto Orchard Place and struck a Millington man riding a 10-speed bike, Bernards Township Police report.

The crash caused the biker to be thrown up onto the hood and into the windshield, smashing it, police report.

The biker, who was wearing a helmet, suffered general complaints of pain and was transported to Morristown Medical Center.

Riley said he didn't see the biker at all when he made the turn. The crash occurred just after dusk and there were no street lights on in the area, police report.

The bicycle reportedly had a headlight and a rear red flashing light, police report.

Riley's vehicle was damaged on the front grill and right side headlight.

No summonses were issued to Riley.
