IN SHORT

Ridge and Bernards faced off for the second time in just four days. In the first game, the Ridge girls lacrosse took the contest 9-8 at their senior night.  But on Monday, the girls from Bernardsville came out on top.

The game was fairly evenly matched — despite Bernards' better season record — and appeared to be wrapping up the half with a 7-7 tie when a penalty was called with just 4 seconds in the period. Bridget Kenny converted with just 2 seconds remaining and Bernards took a 8-7 lead. The second half saw two Ridge goals disallowed, keeping the Ridge team at a disadvantage. But as the team did last week, Ridge looked to mount a late game charge scoring three goals in just over 1 minute with just three minutes left in the game. But their effort fell short when Bernards turned on the heat to score two goals in the last minute of play.

RED DEVIL OF THE GAME

Samantha Brown — Brown had a hand in all but one goal in the game scoring 5 and adding 4 assists in a 10 goal game. Four of Brown's goals were unassisted.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Christie Long - Long had a goal and an assist in the game; Meghan Mills (Bernards) - Mills had a team high 4 goals and 1 assist.

THEY SAID IT

“Everything on Thursday was worth it, we learned a lot. We talked a lot about what we were going to change and now we get a little redemption.” — Bernards head coach Jessica McGinn

"We can't expect to play upbeat one game, down one game, up one game because when you have to dig deep, it is not there. We play down to the level of our opponent and it catches up to you eventually." — Ridge head coach Barbara Erickson
