Burglary At Basking Ridge Home, Police Ask For Help

Bernards Township Police are asking the public for any camera footage or information regarding a recent home burglary.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A burglary of a home in Basking Ridge has prompted police to ask the public for help.

Bernards Township Police are investigating a burglary of an unoccupied home on Wisteria Way which is believed to have happened on Aug. 29 around 8:40 p.m.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity or has camera footage of possible suspects and/or a suspect vehicle in the area of the Wisteria Way neighborhood during this time frame is asked to contact Detective Rhys Marten at rmarten@bernardspd.org or at his desk line at 908-204-3045.

Residents are reminded that if they see any suspicious activity to call the police department immediately and ask that the person or situation be investigated.

"The police rely on our residents to be our eyes and ears," said Bernards Township Police Department. "Descriptions of people and vehicles, including license plates, could prove important. Call 908-766-1122, or 911 for emergencies."

Last week, police also reported a home burglary in the Fieldstone Drive area where they also asked residents for surveillance footage and information.

Police offered the following tips to reduce the chance a burglar will target your home:

  • Lock your home at all times. Thieves will often target unlocked homes
  • Ensure any surveillance systems and cameras are in working order
  • Put lights and televisions on timers or delay switch when not home
  • Keep records/photos of valuable possessions
  • Retain make, model, and serial numbers of valuable electronics and jewelry
  • Do not leave trash containers, newspapers or mail uncollected
  • If possible, leave a vehicle or vehicles in the driveway
