Learn techniques on how to identify constellations and locate planets and more in the night sky. Discover what internet resources are available to help the beginning astronomer. 
Included will be a demonstration of using a star map to help you explore the sky, as well as how easy it is to view the International Space Station and satellites without the need for a telescope! This program is geared for adults, but suitable for children ages 12 and older. 
Presenter: Paul Cirillo has been fascinated by astronomy and space missions all his life and enjoys sharing his knowledge with the public. He is a member of the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which operates the largest public observatory in New Jersey and was the leader of Somerset County’s 4-H Space &amp; Astronomy Club for ten years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University and is a volunteer outreach “Ambassador” for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This program is geared for adults, but suitable for children ages 12 and older.

Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

Friends of Great Swamp NWR and USFWS will host the summer Third Saturday Guided Walk on the White Oak Trail on Saturday July 18, 1:30-3:00 PM. 
The White Oak Trail, across Pleasant Plains Rd. from the Helen C Fenske Visitor Center, is a microcosm of the habitat diversity found at Great Swamp. Walkers will learn about the habitats, refuge management practices, history, plants, and animals along the trail. The focus of this walk will be identifying butterflies and dragonflies along the trail. As this is a refuge trail, no dogs are allowed.
Friends volunteer naturalists Paul Lauber and Dorothy Smullen will lead this walk. Registration is not necessary. Walkers will meet in the parking lot at the Helen C. Fenske Visitor Center, 32 Pleasant Plains Road, Harding Township 07920.
