On the twenty-fifth anniversary of September 11, Bishop Janes United Methodist Church opens its sanctuary to anyone who wants a quiet place to sit.
From 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, there is no program and no service. The doors are unlocked and the room is quiet. Come and go as you need.
At 12:00 PM, a thirty-minute midday prayer service. The names of the eighteen Bernards Township residents who died that morning will be read aloud. The service includes readings from Psalm 121 and from Micah 4, where the prophet looks toward a day when nations beat their swords into plowshares and no longer learn war.
Come for the quiet, for the service, or for both. Everyone is welcome and no church affiliation is expected.
The community remembrance ceremony at Harry Dunham Park follows at 6:00 PM.
