Bishop Janes United Methodist Church will install an interfaith prayer wall at the Lyons train station on the twenty-fifth anniversary of September 11.
The wall stands beside the existing memorial plaque bearing the names of the Bernards Township residents killed that day. The wall is meant as a place for commuters and neighbors to stop and write a prayer.
Its center is left open for handwritten notes, echoing the paper-covered fences and station walls that appeared across the region in the weeks after the attacks. Prayers from seven traditions run down the sides: Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and one written for people who do not pray..
The wall stands through the weekend. Every prayer left there will be placed on the altar during worship at Bishop Janes on Sunday, September 13 at 9:30 AM.
