Call-out for Student Artists for 5K T-Shirt Contest

St. James Men of Charity will host its fifth annual “5K for Kindness” Race/Walk Thursday, May 12th at 5:30 pm. All local students age 18 and under are invited to enter our t-shirt design contest. The winning entry will be selected and featured on the front of the official 5K for Kindness event t- shirt.

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate plus their design will be featured on the Race/Walk T-Shirts. All design entries must be submitted by Friday, April 15. The winner will receive a $50 Gift Certificate. The top next 10 runner-up will receive a $10 gift certificate to Penguin Ice Cream in Bernardsville. Rules are listed below.

Runners/Walkers can sign up for the 5K at: http://bit.ly/1C2C69K. The event will be a festive family friendly event with food, beverages, and live music. For our serious runners, the course is USATF Certified/Sanctioned. Proceeds from the event will go towards providing acts of kindness to those in need in and around the parish community. Early Registration by 5/2 - $20. After 5/2 & Race Day - $25

T-Shirt Design Rules

Designs may only use 3 colors or fewer (black is a color). Solid colors only. Please use ink, markers or computer (pencil and crayon are too light for T-shirt design). Design should be the student’s original work and not contain any trademarks or logos

• Only one design per student

• Design cannot exceed 8 ½ by 11 inches (please leave room at edges)

• Must use plain white paper

• Please write the student’s name lightly in pencil on the back of the design

• Consider the MOC’s Run/Walk theme in your design

• By submitting a design, the student and his or her parents are agreeing that the MOC can display the designs at the event and may use the winning design on the event T-shirts.

The Men of Charity was formed in 2008 to engage in charitable service to the community at large. The members of the Men of Charity have been engaged in numerous donation and service activities including clothing drives, volunteering at soup kitchens, and coordinating home repairs. Additionally, through their three annual fundraising events; The Harvest Fest and NJ Microbrew Night, Winter Chili & Chowder Cook-Off and 5K Run for Kindness efforts, the Men of Charity make donations to individual families and organizations in time of need.
