Can-U-Cannu? Kan-U-Kayak?
County Park Commission offers canoeing, kayaking programs and trips.

The Somerset County Park Commission is offering a variety of canoeing and kayaking opportunities to stimulate awareness and understanding of the environment, build an appreciation of New Jersey waterways, and promote interest in canoeing and kayaking.
All canoeing and kayaking programs are designed for adults and families. Attendance at introductory programs is required prior to participating in canoe or kayak trips.

Can-U-Cannu? & Kan-U-Kayak?
After a "splashing" time at these introductory canoeing and kayaking classes, participants will have learned basic paddling techniques, safety aspects of canoeing and handling a canoe in and out of the water. The programs offer adults and children, ages 7 and older (canoe) and 10 (kayak) and older, the opportunity to learn to canoe or kayak. An adult must accompany children under the age of 15. Classes will take place on Branta Pond at the Environmental Education Center (EEC), 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge.

Kayak Pool Training
Participants will learn how to successfully wet exit a kayak and practice getting in and out from both the pool deck and the water.
Canoe & Kayak Trips
Trips run by the EEC Naturalists may be for both canoes and kayaks together (Canyak), or just kayak and are intended for beginner to intermediate paddlers. Prior participation in either “Can-U-Cannu” or “Kan-U-Kayak?” classes is required. Boats, equipment, transportation, and leadership are provided.
Trips scheduled include: Kids on the Water; Early Birds Paddle; Passaic Paddle; Delaware & Raritan Canal Paddle; A Paddling Afternoon; Trenton Marsh Meander; Raritan River Ramble; All Day on the River; Pine Barrens Paddle; Sedge Island Getaway Weekend; Whitewater Beginnings; and Whitewater Challenge.
