Car Burglaries, Thefts On The Rise In Basking Ridge
"PLEASE DO NOT leave your vehicle unlocked with the keys in it, including while parked in the garage!" police warn.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — An increase in motor vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts has been reported in recent weeks across the township.
"We ask that all residents make it difficult for these criminals to commit these crimes. PLEASE DO NOT leave your vehicle unlocked with the keys in it, including while parked in the garage!" The Bernards Township Police stated.
Police also offered the following steps, to help prevent becoming a victim:

- Do not leave valuables in plain view (purses, wallets, GPS devices, laptops, PDA’s, cell phones, MP3’s).
- Do not leave windows or sunroof open.
- Do not leave doors unlocked.
- Do not leave keys or key fobs in the vehicle.
- Do not leave garage door opened or unlocked.
- Do not leave the garage door opener in plain view.
