Deer Hunting Season Kicks Off In Basking Ridge

The English Family Woods property will be closed to the public in order to allow hunting for the 2022/2023 season.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Deer hunting for the 2022/2023 season has begun in Basking Ridge.

As a result, the English Family Woods property will be closed to the public. Only hunters approved by English Farm Associates are allowed to hunt.

The township's Deer Management Advisory Committee recently provided a report crediting the deer program with a 92.4 percent decrease in deer versus vehicle crashes in Basking Ridge since 2001. Read More: Deer Vs. Car Crashes Decrease 92 Percent In Basking Ridge Since 2001

The Deer Management Advisory Committee recently shared its Annual Report for Deer Season 2021-2022 at the last township committee meeting on Aug. 23.

The report revealed that 99 deer were killed during the 2021-22 hunting season and 259 during the 2020-21 hunting season in the township.
