Drawing/Painting Classes at Farmstead Arts Center, Basking Ridge

Intro to Drawing with Doug Schiller, $150 for 6 week class, all supplies included; Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 am from March 29 – May 3, 2016
This class will introduce students to the fundamental principles of drawing as they gain confidence in their drawing skills and have fun in doing so. Work with a variety of drawing materials and learn to create convincing 2D imagery of the 3D world. No previous experience required.

Studio Landscape Drawing, with Doug Schiller, $150 for 6 week class, all supplies included; Mondays, 1:30 – 3:30 PM, March 28 – May 2, 2016
Students will create outdoor landscapes indoors as they translate their 3D world onto a 2D picture plane. An understanding of compositional elements, shading, color and perspective will help develop spatial appearances working with a variety of dry 2D drawing materials that will amaze both artist and viewer. Photographic references and imagination will supplement direct observation. All levels welcome.

Colored Pencil Drawing, with Doug Schiller, $150 for 6 week class, all supplies included, Tuesdays, March 29 – May 3, 2016 from 12:30-2:30 PM
Explore the wide range of drawing possibilities using watercolor colored pencils. From traditional uses to more contemporary applications students will observe forms and use pencils and brush working with still life arrangements, photographic references and personal imagery. All levels welcome.

Teen Drawing and Painting with Doug Schiller, $150 for 6 week class, all supplies included; Mondays, March 29 – May 3, 2016 from 4 – 6 PM

One Day Workshop for Teens – Adults: Painting on the Passaic with Doug Schiller, $60, all supplies included; Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 10 AM- 2PM, Rain date: Sunday, April 17 from 10 AM – 2PM
The Passaic River runs gracefully behind Farmstead Arts and this idyllic setting will be drawn and/or painted on paper or canvas through direct observation in this one day outdoor workshop. Using a variety of drawing materials and watercolors concepts such as color, perspective and composition will be investigated. All levels welcome.
