Flight Restrictions Issued Over Trump Golf Course After Drone Reports

The Federal Aviation Administration reported unauthorized drone reports in the area which prompted these bans.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — Drone flights are currently prohibited over Donald Trump's National Golf Club in Bedminster and Picatinny Arsenal Military Base in Rockaway following reports of unauthorized drones in the area.

The Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) received reports of drone activity near Morris County on Nov. 18.

"Witnesses have spotted the cluster of what look to be drones and a possible fixed wing aircraft. We have reports from the public and law enforcement dating back several weeks," said FBI spokeswoman Amy J. Thoreson.

As a result, the FAA issued two Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) prohibiting drone flights over Picatinny Arsenal Military Base through Dec. 26 and Trump National Golf Club Bedminster through Dec. 6 at the request of federal security partners.

"Safely integrating drones into the National Airspace System is a key priority for the FAA," said the FAA to Patch. "We look into all reports of unauthorized drone operations and investigate when appropriate."

Drone operators who conduct unsafe operations that endanger other aircraft or people on the ground could face fines up to $75,000. In addition, the FAA can suspend or revoke drone operators’ pilot certificates.

"The FBI Newark, NJ State Police and NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness are asking for the public to report any information related to the recent sightings of possible drones flying in several areas along the Raritan River," said Thoreson.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit it online at tips.fbi.gov.
