The Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable, located at 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, offers guided trail rides for adults and children (ages 9 and up).

The one-hour trail rides are designed for people with little or no riding experience. Staff trail guides will lead the ride to match the skill and comfort level of the least experienced participant. Most rides are at the walk only; see below for information relating to more experienced riders.

Reservations are available for hourly time slots beginning at 10:00 A.M. Monday through Friday, with the last ride leaving the courtyard at 5:00 P.M. Rides are available between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Reserve a ride for 2 to 4 people by calling the Stable office at 908-722-1200, ext. 5010 at least two hours before the desired time, but as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Participants must be at least 9 years of age and weigh no more than 200 lbs. The fee is $40 per person for Somerset County residents and $50 for those who live out-of-county. Payment is required at the time of reservation.
