Environmental Education Center Announces Upcoming Events
The Education Center will be featuring events to help both children and adults learn about nature.
The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center, located at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, has announced a number of upcoming events during the month of March, for both children and adults.
The events will take place between Monday, March 9 and Sunday, March 15.
“Turtle Time,” a child/parent event, will take place on Friday, March 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event is available to children age infant to 5 years old with a parents and will teach them about turtles while they sleep away the winter months, the Somerset County Park Commission said. The fee is register for the event is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child. Advance payment is required.

The EEC will feature a maple sugaring event on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8, and March 14 and 15. The event will begin at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and noon and 2 p.m. on Sundays. The maple sugaring program will demonstrate how trees are tapped, how sap is collected and witness the boiling process that produces maple syrup, the commission said.
