
The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

Children age 5 to 8 will enjoy a weekend learning adventure, joining a
Naturalist for a themed exploration of the Great Swamp.

Raritan Bay Birding
Wednesday, March 13 from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Adult birders will join a Naturalist on a trip to the Raritan Bay
visiting Natco Lake, Union Beach, Conaskonk Point, Raritan Bay
Waterfront Park, Perth Amboy Waterfront, and possibly look for
the Carteret colony of parakeets.
Fee is $50 per person and $40 per senior.

Birding Seminar – Birding by Ear
Saturday, March 16 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Novice and experienced birders age 8 and above will join a Naturalist to
learn about bird songs, bird calls, and how to identify local species
by sound.

“The Great Swamp Experience,” on the lower level at the EEC, features interactive displays, vignettes, taxidermy, and archeological artifacts highlighting the history and ecology of the Great Swamp. The exhibit is open 7 days a week from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission Is free.
Please note that dog walking is not permitted on the trails at the Environmental Education Center.
