Environmental Education Center Programs

April 18 to 25

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as spring arrives in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & PARENT/CHILD PROGRAMS

Tot Trek - FREE PROGRAM

Friday, April 22 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children age infant to 5 with a parent will leave their strollers behind for a

leisurely walk along the trails of Lord Stirling Park to enjoy the

natural beauty of spring in New Jersey.

The Green Team – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, April 23 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Children ages 12 to 15 - Is natural science a subject you find interesting?

Do you like the outdoors? Is the Great Swamp a place you like to

visit? If so, join the Environmental Education Center Naturalists

and contribute your talents to fun and educational projects and

special events.

Pre-registration is required.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

Woodland Wildflowers - FREE PROGRAM

Thursday, April 21 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Adults will join a Naturalist for a leisurely walk through Lord Stirling

Park in search of wildflowers carpeting the forest floor.

Program is free.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, September 23 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk

through the Great Swamp.

The program is free and pre-registration is not required.

Learn to Compost

Saturday, April 23 from 2:00 P.M.to 3:00 P.M.

Family and friends of all ages will learn how banana peels, apple cores,

orange rinds, and much more can become an asset that is good for

the yard, garden, and the environment.

Fee is $6 per person.
