Firefighters Battle Car Fire, Extreme Heat In Basking Ridge

Basking Ridge firefighters battled not only the heat but a car fire on Interstate 287 on Wednesday night.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — On a sweltering hot day, Basking Ridge firefighters battled not only the heat but a car fire on Interstate 287 on Wednesday night.

A Cadillac was fully engulfed in flames at 6:43 p.m. on I-287 southbound at milepost 29.2 in Bernards Township when police and firefighters arrived, said New Jersey State Sgt. Philip Curry.

Everyone in the car made it out safely and no injuries were reported, said Curry.

"Thankfully there were no human injuries, the car, however, did not far so well," said Basking Ridge Fire Co. No 1 & EMS.
