Forest Fire Burning Scheduled In Basking Ridge Wednesday
Prescribed burnings are also scheduled in Morris and Warren counties.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The New Jersey Fire Service will hold a forest fire prescribed burning on Wednesday in Basking Ridge, NJ Department of Environmental Protection announced.
The burning will take place at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Basking Ridge.
Prescribed burnings are also scheduled in Lewis Morris Park in Morris County and Warren Rod and Gun Club in Franklin and Wiess, Ethos Health Center in Washington in Warren County.

The primary purpose of prescribed burning in New Jersey is to reduce the hazardous accumulations of forest fuels. This aids in the prevention of wildfires, reduces the intensity of the fires, and also provides a foundation for safer, more effective fire suppression and protection operations, according to the NJ Fire Service.
