Free Rabies Clinic For Basking Ridge Residents' Pets

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Health Department offer a Free Rabies Clinic for residents' dogs and cats on Saturday, Nov. 10.
The clinic will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bernards Township Public Works Garage 277 South Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.
The rabies expiration date for a pet can be found on their current dog/cat license. If unsure of the expiration date call or email Michelle Santoro, Bernards Township Animal Control Officer, at 908-204-3066 or MSantoro@Bernards.org.

As a reminder all Bernards Township dogs and cats must be licensed, as per NJ statue 4:19-15.2a and Bernards Township Ordinance BH:10-5.2. All current dog and cat licenses expire on Jan. 31 of each year. The licensing of animals is an important aspect of rabies and animal control. In order for a license to be issued, the owner must present proof that a licensed veterinarian has vaccinated the dog / cat against rabies and that the duration of immunity from that vaccination extends through at least 10 months of the 12-month licensing period.

An exemption to the rabies inoculation requirement shall be granted if the owner presents written certification from a licensed veterinarian that the dog/cat cannot be vaccinated due to a medical condition or course of therapy. Click here for details.
